Adam Holzman, Indiana University – Jacobs School of Music, Blooomington, February 14, 2012

I listen to Mr Holzman quite often.  He has recorded several CDs for the discount Classical label Naxos.  My favorite CD of his and Naxos (& maybe of all time) is his recording of Johann Kasper Mertz’ Bardenklange suite.  He has also recorded Sor, Ponce & Lauro selections.  In 2005 he released the  premier recording of Sergio Assad’s Aquarelle.

Mr Holzman is playing in the intimate facility, Auer Hall.

Nigel North & Concentus, Bloomington, IN, Oct 1, 2011

Nigel North’s Concentus, which means to “sing together, harmonize”, will be providing a free concert in Bloomington, this Saturday.

About Concentus:

“Concentus performs a wide-ranging repertory of music for small and large mixed ensembles, vocal and instrumental, from all early periods. At the core of Concentus are small ensembles of winds, brass, plucked and bowed strings which perform separately and together in combination with singers and keyboard players.

Vocal, instrumental and mixed chamber music ensembles meet three times a week; the repertory is taken from all early periods. These ensembles are coached by faculty members, and performance is usually prepared from original source materials. Each student is expected to participate in chamber music during most semesters of residence.

Directors: Paul Elliott, Wendy Gillespie, and Nigel North”

When: Saturday, October 1st, 2011 @ 8:00 pm

Petar Jankovic & The Petar Jankovic Ensamble

Mr Petar Jankovic,  Bloomington Indiana resident, Professor of Guitar at Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University has been very busy.  In 2008, he released his third CD entitled ‘Leyenda’ and has since created a guitar-led, string quartet called the Petar Jankovic Ensamble.  It is also interesting that the quartet is sponsored by Strings By Mail, a fantastic online retailer focusing on the needs of the classical guitarist.  I am a big fan of Strings By Mail and now, of the Petar Jankovic Ensamble.  I hope to see them performing very soon!
